Bunker Hill Museum

General Information:

Located across the street from the Monument, the Bunker Hill Museum contains over 4000 square feet of exhibit space. On the main floor, visitors can view displays on the history of the monument and its construction, see exhibits on Charlestown's history and cultural heritage, or purchase souvenirs in the gift shop. Upper floor displays include the diorama that was originally located in the Monument's lodge and a cyclorama depicting the battle, along with the Historical Society's office and archives room. The diorama, which is a scale model of the battle field, features new sound and light enhancements. The cyclorama, a reproduction of one painted in the late 1800's, offers a 360 degree view of the battle. The lower level of the museum houses restrooms, a kitchen, and a community meeting room, used by the community and the Historical Society for historical and cultural events.

Location:

43 Monument Square, on the Freedom Trail, directly across from the main steps to the Monument. The Museum building was formerly the Charlestown Public Library.
