Loopers Project

Charlestown's answer - no doubt one of many - to the James Dean's of the movie screen and real life, past and present.

Ed Callahan is working on a new project - he is tracking down the Loopers, their exploits and ..... present day relatives.

Rather than go into a long winded explanation of who and what the Loopers were, the link below will take you to a well written article from a local newspaper of the 70s/80's - this was reproduced in the Summer 2008 CHS Newsletter.

Newspaper History - "Loopers"

 - this link jumps to a reproduction of an article from the local Quincy  Patriot Ledger from around the 70s/80s - it, in turn, is about the 1920's/30's when young men stole cars and raced around the streets of Charlestown, to the delight and encouragement of their mates, and to the consternation of the police and the general citizens of the city.
